Commission calculator

Rate times installs.

Fiber sales commission is your rate per completed install times the installs you complete, less any that cancel inside the chargeback window. Type your own numbers below to see a week, a month and a year, then put two offers side by side. Rate and installs multiply, so a change in installs per week moves the total as much as the same change in rate.

How it adds up

Four things decide the check.

Know all four before you type a number.

Per install

Paid when the install completes.

A signed order that never installs pays nothing. The commission is earned when the network operator connects the home.

Commission only

No base. No draw.

Every check is built from installs you closed. Slow week, small check. That’s the trade-off of commission pay.

Chargebacks

A sale can come back.

Most fiber products carry a cancellation window. If the customer cancels inside it, the commission on that sale comes off a later check.

1099

Before taxes.

A commission rep is usually an independent contractor, so nothing is withheld. The totals below are before tax and before your own costs.

At RCLX: Reps work as 1099 independent contractors on 100% commission, earned on completed installs. Commission is paid on the payday RCLX is paid for the install. Paydays vary by provider and market, and you get yours in writing before you start. The whole path is on how fiber sales pay works, and the taxes are on 1099 taxes for door-to-door reps.

Rate vs volume

Put two offers side by side.

Enter the rate each company offers and the installs a week you think you would close there, with the training and turf each one gives you. The chargeback share and weeks above apply to both.

What moves the number

What moves the number.

Rate and installs multiply, so each one moves the total by the same share. The rate is set in writing before you start. The installs are decided on the doors, by how well you pitch and whether the homes in front of you can buy.

RCLX is built for the installs side. Reps train on pitch videos, scripts, word tracks and objection-handling drills, and study recorded sales at real doors, broken down move by move. See how RCLX trains reps.

Then the doors themselves. Every rep works exclusive turf, so two reps are never put on the same street. And the check: we pay you as soon as we’re paid for your install, and every check carries 100% of your commission with nothing held back. Before you compare any two companies, run them through the agency checklist.

Thing one

Installs start with the market.

The installs field depends on where you sell. A home that only had cable has a real reason to listen when fiber is built on its street, and providers file where they offer fiber with the FCC.

Thing two

The rate is only half the offer.

The company behind the rate decides whether you get doors of your own, when you’re paid and what you can see. Get those answers in writing before you put an offer in the calculator.

Questions

What reps ask about commission.

How does fiber sales commission work?

You are paid a set commission for each sale that installs. The total is the rate times your completed installs, less any sale the customer cancels inside the chargeback window. There is usually no base and no draw.

What is a good commission per install?

There is no single number, because a rate only pays when the install happens. Compare written offers on four things: whether any part of each check is held back, how long the chargeback window runs, when you are paid for an install, and whether you get turf of your own. The best rate is the one that holds up on all four.

Should I take the offer with the higher rate?

Run both offers in the calculator first. It shows how many installs a week each one needs to match the other. Then ask each company about training and turf, because those decide the installs.

How do chargebacks change the math?

Each canceled sale takes its commission back off a later check. Enter the share of installs you expect to cancel and the calculator takes it off every total.

How are RCLX reps paid?

Reps work as 1099 independent contractors on 100% commission, earned on completed installs. Commission is paid on the payday RCLX is paid for the install. Paydays vary by provider and market, and you get yours in writing before you start.
